Some children are entitled to extra funding called the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP). This funding is given directly to nurseries and early years settings to help us support children’s learning and development.

EYPP is not money parents receive — it is extra funding for the nursery to make sure children have the best possible start.

⭐ Why EYPP Matters

Research shows that children who receive extra support in their early years are more confident, more ready for school and make stronger progress as they grow.

The funding helps us to:

• Support children’s early communication and language
• Boost confidence, social skills and wellbeing
• Provide additional learning opportunities and resources
• Work more closely with families to support learning at home

Even a small amount of additional funding can make a big difference to a child’s early education.

How Much Funding Is It?

EYPP provides £1 per funded hour, for each eligible child using their l government-funded entitlement.

How We Use EYPP at Our Nursery

We use EYPP in the way that will best support eligible children. This may include:

• Additional support for communication and language
• Specialist resources or targeted small-group sessions
• Extra staffing or key person time

At our nursery, EYPP also helps us to employ apprentices as part of our staffing structure. This means we have more adults working with the children than the minimum required.

This approach allows us to:

• Ensure the most experienced and highly qualified staff are working closely with children who need the most support
• Provide additional adult time for building relationships, supporting speech and language and helping children feel secure and successful

Our focus is always on what will make the biggest positive difference for each child.

✔ Who Is Eligible?

Your child may be eligible if  you receive certain benefits (for example, Universal Credit or Income Support), or if your child:

• Has been in local authority care
• Has been adopted
• Has a Special Guardianship Order or Child Arrangements Order

Confidentiality

Your information is kept confidential. Other parents or children will not know who receives EYPP. All children benefit from high-quality provision — EYPP simply helps us do even more for those who need it.
